Royal Navy Reserves Experience - Portsmouth

Want to keep fit, make new friends and gain new skills in your spare time? Get a taste of life as a Royal Navy Reservist at our free Royal Naval Reserve Experience on 23/11/2019.

Spaces are limited, so make sure you register your interest in plenty of time. If you hold British Nationality or Citizenship, or are a Commonwealth or Irish Citizen, then you are eligible to join.

As well as learning about the different branches and specialisations of the Royal Naval Reserve, you’ll get the chance to:

  • Visit the warship HMS Bristol
  • Learn more about the Royal Naval Reserve during several presentations from the unit
  • Enjoy hands-on demonstrations
  • Mingle with serving reservists and get your questions answered.

What you’ll need

You will need to bring along photo ID and report to the main gate no later than 10am in order gain access to the event. Under-18s will need to be accompanied by an adult who will also need photo ID.

As some activities are outdoors, we’d recommend bringing warm clothing, a waterproof jacket and comfortable shoes.

Lunch and light refreshments will be provided. You are well to bring Sports/Drinks bottles and fill them from our Galley. Please, however, do not bring any liquids onto the base.

By entering the Naval Base you consent to possible search of yourself and your vehicle.

About the Royal Naval Reserve

The Royal Naval Reserve is the volunteer force of the Royal Navy. With a basic commitment of 24 days a year, you’ll take part in training exercises, defence drills and adventure activities, often overseas. You could even be mobilised for an operational tour of duty.

You'll develop skills that will benefit your career, experience adventures you couldn't have anywhere else, and serve your community – all alongside your day job.
