Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth

LNTM No 14/22

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN jointly by the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth and Harbour Master Portsmouth International Port that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be continuing suspension of Semaphore Tower visits for Pilotage Exemption Certificate (PEC) candidates and renewals.

2. With uncertainty of the impact of newly discovered COVID-19 mutations, together with a number of cases among QHM VTS staff, it is not considered prudent to reinstate visits at this time.

3. With the return to service of most operators as COVID-19 restrictions have eased, the waiver for at least six trips preceding the renewal of a PEC is rescinded, and all other regulations for PEC issues and renewals as published by Portsmouth International Port on its website (https://www.portsmouth-port.co.uk/port-authority/port-marine-safety-code) remain in force.

4. QHM will keep the situation under review and will reinstate visits as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

5. Portsmouth LNTM 14/21 is hereby superseded.
