1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that HMS PRINCE OF WALES will conduct a trial of her Marine Evacuation System (MES) while alongside Princess Royal Jetty in HMNB Portsmouth. The trial will last approximately 5 hours and will take place sometime between 0900 and 1400 on Wednesday 6 October 2021, weather dependant.

2. Then on Thursday 7 October a towing trial will take place from 1200 and 1400 to test HMS Prince of Wales rescue craft ability to tow a pair of survival craft.

3. The MES deployment will consist of three sets of orange slides and liferafts extending out into the harbour. Fifteen minutes prior to activation, a broadcast will be made on VHF Channel 11 and the attendant Ministry of Defence Police Boats will extend their cordon out to 150 metres from the ship’s side where they will remain until the liferafts and slides are detached and recovered.

4. Vessels are to pass wide and slow during the trials.  QHM Harbour Control will be kept informed of the trial progress and can be contact on VHF Ch 11 or by telephoning 02392 723694.
