1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth that  part of the Tipner West (Lennox Point) Development Project environmental survey works will be conducted using a hovercraft to achieve access onto the mudflats. Works are scheduled from 6 to 12 June 2021.  

2. The area within Portsmouth Harbour to be surveyed stretches from the north end of Whale Island, round to the entrance to Port Solent to the west and beyond the M275 to the east. The purpose of the surveys is to gain data on Inter-tidal Habitat mapping and sediment sampling, macroalgae, seagrass, Sub-tidal grabbing (sediment sampling), additionally some seine netting, fyke netting and some beam trawling will be undertaken.

3. The two vessels conducting these tasks are hovercraft “REDSHANK” (LOA 4.9m) and the catamaran “COASTAL SURVEYOR” (LOA 7.9) with all works being conducted during daylight hours. The vessels will be listening to VHF Channel 11 throughout, and will keep well clear of all other craft using the harbour. It is planned to launch and recover the hovercraft from Portchester Sailing Club..

4. QHM Harbour Control will be kept informed of the vessel’s area of operations and may be contacted on VHF Ch 11 or by telephoning 02392 723689 for the latest information.
