 1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV) trials will be conducted within the two areas shown below between 22 March and 01 April 2021. The RV CALLISTA will launch and recover a single WAVEGLIDER ASV daily, notifying Southampton VTS on each occasion. Most operations will take place in Area 1. Area 2 will only be used if conditions in Area 1 are unsuitable. 

2. ASV operations will conducted in daylight only with a safety rib in attendance throughout. The ASV is yellow with a white strobe and radar reflector atop a mast, dimensions 3m x 0.8m. It will remain on the surface throughout and (at maximum speed 3 knots) should be considered limited in ability to manoeuvre. Area 1 will be used wherever possible. 

3.  Further information can be requested through CALLISTA or Southampton VTS on VHF 12. 

4. Mariners are requested to remain clear and be mindful of wake turbulence when passing. 

5.  Cancel this LNTM on 2 April 2021.
