HMS Atherstone's role

As part of the Hunt-class, HMS Atherstone’s primary role is to carry out mine countermeasures activities: detecting and destroying enemy mines using a combination of advanced sonar and the Seafox autonomous underwater vehicle.  

HMS Atherstone’s is currently in Portsmouth undergoing a period of maintenance, during which she will receive updates to her engines, sensors, propellers and chilled water plants.
