Tim, nicknamed the Cold Dip Commando, died of cancer in early December 2024, after an eight-year battle with the disease.
During his stoic efforts fighting cancer, Tim began swimming every morning at his local beach, Branksome Chine, in Dorset and soon setup the Cold Dip Commando Challenge.
For his first challenge, Tim went on a trip of around 3,000 miles around the UK in 2023, making 31 dips along the way, from Cornwall to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
A mixture of ex-marines and friends did the same again in 2024 – all to raise cash for charity causes: The Royal Marines Charity, Lymphoma Action, Rock 2 Recovery and the Bowra Foundation.
Tim aimed to be in the water in 2025 for another epic 31-stop challenge, finishing at his local beach, but it wasn’t to be.
Despite his death, surrounded by his family on December 3, 2024, Tim’s dream of another cold dip challenge will live on through his loved ones as a celebration of his life and to continue his mission of spreading positivity and supporting causes.
His daughter Kelly said: “I’ve never known someone to inspire people how dad did.
“He was so courageous no matter what was thrown at him, he never let things negatively affect him, even with a life expectancy thrown at him.
“He continued to be humble and kind no matter the situation. I know he will be remembered for all he is and will forever be.
“He joined the Marines at 16 knowing he wanted to serve his country and make a difference, and he did that every single day.
“Even though he’s not here physically, I know he will keep making a difference. Love you, dad, forever and always xx.”
