Sailors dressed in sporting rig and fancy dress enjoyed the fun as the Base’s ceremonial and physical training staff put them through their paces in front of the Guest of Honour, the Commanding Officer of HMS Sultan, Captain John Voyce OBE.

Divisions is a ceremonial piece, which is about marching and following a disciplined drill, but it’s good to relax every now and then and to boost morale. Today offered a great opportunity for some light-hearted fun and there were lots of happy smiley faces.

The March past was pretty unusual with all sorts of displays from classes doubling past at pace to star jumps. Several really stood out, especially the group who stopped and did some timed press ups and the platoon who opted to go past backwards!
Sports Relief is a great event and I’m really pleased as an Establishment that we were able to support it alongside our regular fundraising for Naval charities.”
The event raised a total of £675.34.
