The Ship's company of HMS Somerset run in Ultra Marathon

As part of the ongoing fundraising effort to support her affiliated charities, 9 members of HMS Somerset's Ship's Company volunteered to participate in a 36 mile 'Ultra Marathon' from Torbay (where HMS Somerset was supporting the Torbay Air Show) back to her base port of Devonport.
Exposed to all 4 seasons in one day, the team battled the elements, rolling Devon hills, blisters, cramps and sunburn to finish at Camels Head Gate in a time of 7hrs 08mins.
Of the 9 personnel that started the 36 miles, 6 completed the full distance, raising almost £1000 towards Somerset based Sea Cadet charities.
The charities team onboard HMS Somerset now look forward to their next event later in the year to raise further funds for their other affiliated charity RNRMC.
