On Wednesday, May 13, The Northern Region Female Grass Roots Sports Festival took place at HM Naval Base Clyde and was facilitated by a team from HMS Temeraire.
Petty Officer Physical Training (POPT) Robinson organised the event which was aimed at bringing beginners in to sport and is a great opportunity to try something different in a fun yet competitive way.
"Grass Roots is a superb way of getting people away from their work place to try out new things," said POPT Robinson "some of the girls here today have never tried these sports before and have now found a new hobby or might even end up playing to a higher standard in the future."
There were goodie bags given out to all of the girls who came along and took part and prizes for the winners. The day was wrapped up with everyone tucking into a healthy curry with rice, before being sent off with a smile and a craving to get involved in more Royal Navy sports.
There is an ongoing programme of Grassroots Sports and activities at HM Naval Base Clyde which includes surfing, clay pigeon shooting, skiing and many others.
