Naval Service personnel thanked for vital boat delivery

Amphibious support ship RFA Mounts Bay has delivered a boat to the Montserrat Marine Unit.
Governor of the Caribbean isle, Elizabeth Carriere, attended the ceremony where the unit received an Atlantic 74 rigid hull semi-inflatable.
“I have been out on the water experiencing Mounts Bay, its Wildcat helicopter and our RHIB and I am really, really happy to have this boat and to have the RFA here to train the marine unit,” she said.
“This will allow our marine unit to get lots of training on the water and make us ready as well for the new vessel at the end of the year.”

Sergeant John Rolfe of 1 Assault Squadron Royal Marines had special interest in the handover as he had worked on the boat over previous weeks to fit the new outboard engines, a new set of navigational aids and to ensure the RHIB was ready in all respects for the handover.
“The crew of Mounts Bay, which includes the RFA, RLC, RM and Royal Navy personnel are pleased to hand over the RHIB to the people of Montserrat,” he said.
Sgt Rolfe is currently embarked in Mounts Bay as the boat maintainer. The ship has a number of fast patrol craft for which he is responsible.
