The Royal Marines helped launch the BBC’s Children In Need Appeal in Plymouth by delivering event mascot Pudsey the bear from their Devonport base.

The larger-than-life furry character was taken to the Royal William Yard by a speedy offshore raiding craft driven by Royal Marines from 1 Assault Group, which is based at HMNB Devonport.

Lieutenant Colonel Neil Wraith said: "It's a privilege to support Children in Need, a charity that changes the lives of disadvantaged children and young people."
