The team was formed in 2012 and is the UK’s first and only motorcycle race team for injured Service personnel.
True Heroes Racing will be competing in the Ducati TriOptions Cup as a support championship at this weekend’s UK round of the 2016 FIM Superbike World Championships at Donington Park.
The Team was formed to offer Wounded, Injured and Sick (WIS) UK Service personnel the opportunity to gain a new focus, skills and drive through direct involvement in competitive motorcycle racing.
The team is truly unique, with injured personnel preparing and maintaining the race bikes as well as competing on them.

Commodore Jon Pentreath OBE, Commanding Officer of RNAS Yeovilton, wished Team Manager Warrant Officer Phil Spencer the best of luck for the weekend as he set off from the airbase in the True Heroes Racing team truck for the Donington Park race circuit this Thursday 26 May 2016.
True Heroes Racing have been competing against able bodied teams and riders at the British Superbike Championships for 4 years now in a variety of classes.
The team have expanded year after year and their support from the public grows every time they take to the track.
Amongst others they still field their initial injured rider, double lower leg amputee ex Lance Corporal Murray Hambro, who is the UK’s only double amputee motorcycle racer and rides a hand control Ducati 899 Panigale that the team adapted.
A previous Sun Millie nominee, WO Phil Spencer added; “The team relish the opportunity to compete on the world stage against able bodied teams, and it’s another example that the injuries personnel sustain don’t have to limit the activities they are involved in.
“The team is truly unique, with injured personnel preparing and maintaining the race bikes as well as competing on them.
“We’re grateful to all those who support and sponsor us, including companies in the local Yeovil area.
“We’re funded entirely by sponsorship and without this support True Heroes Racing could not achieve the great things that it does.”
