Motorcyclists take to the road to deliver Christmas cheer

A team of motorcyclists from HMS Raleigh have set-off on a road trip on the 14th December to deliver Christmas cheer to children at Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell.
The team were carrying a special load of toys and selection boxes, some of which were donated by the staff within HMS Raleigh’s PT department.
They arrived at the hospice in St Austell run by Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) later that morning.
Two sailors, two members of the Military Provost Guard Service and a Sea Cadet instructor make up the team.
Lieutenant (Sea Cadet) Steve Lewis said: “We spoke about doing a ride before Christmas and decided to make it a charity run.
Christmas can be a particularly difficult time of year for our families so generous gifts really are appreciated by all
“We picked Children’s Hospice South West because it’s a local charity and also because of the tremendous job they do in supporting children and their families from this area.”
Little Harbour opened its doors to its first families in December 2011 and is most conveniently situated for families who live in Cornwall, Plymouth and parts of South Devon.
Little Harbour supports children with life limiting or threatening illnesses and their families with short breaks, respite, palliative care, emergency stays, end of life care and bereavement support.
Zoe Partridge, Community Fundraiser for CHSW said “We are so grateful for this wonderful delivery of Christmas presents for the children and families we support at Little Harbour.
“Christmas can be a particularly difficult time of year for our families so generous gifts really are appreciated by all.”
