Twitter fans visit HMS Prince of Wales

This weekend saw a select few of HMS Prince of Wales’ Twitter fans invited aboard Britain’s largest warship in Portsmouth naval base. The young fans and their families were treated to a tour of the ship as a thank you for their extra special support to the ship’s Twitter page over the last few years.

Travelling from as far as Yorkshire and Cheshire to brave chilly south coast winds, the visitors enjoyed a full tour of the 65,000 tonne leviathan, including the bridge, flight deck and hangar.  They included Royal Air Force mad Jacob Newson, better known as @Jacob_The_Pilot who has raised £100,000 for charity, and avid Royal Navy fan Connor Norish of @RNpics_.

Supporting the ship’s young fans were their parents.  Mum to six-year-old Caden, Sarah Wright said, ‘if Carlsberg did the perfect day out then we definitely just had it!’

Speaking of the visit, the ship’s media officer, Lt Paul Beardall Jacklin said: “It was nice to give something back to some of our youngest Twitter fans.  They certainly enjoyed themselves and @Jacob_The_Pilot may now be considering a career as a Royal Navy pilot. The RAF will not be pleased!”

HMS Prince of Wales is currently in Portsmouth undergoing a maintenance period before returning to operations in early 2022.
