Base personnel help military tackle cancer

Volunteers from organisation Military Vs Cancer paid a visit to HM Naval Base Clyde on Tuesday, June 5, to collect funds for their drive to raise £100,000 to help tackle cancer.

The organisation, which was formed by Royal Navy Submariners but encompasses all three Armed Services, were also selling raffle tickets with some fantastic prizes, including a Submariner Breitling watch worth thousands of pounds.

An incredible £1,668.47 was collected during the day at Faslane with the total amount raised by the organisation being divided between Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK at the end of the year.

Military Vs Cancer was formed by Service personnel who had experienced cancer and lost friends and family members.  They aim to make 2018 the year which the Military stands up to cancer, touring defence establishments around the country to raise cash and awareness of the disease.
