Clyde Naval Base kids enjoy Kings Camp

The children of Naval Base workers have recently taken part in this year’s Kings Camp, participating in a huge range of sporting activities during their summer holidays.

From July 9 to August 10, the popular summer activity camps operated out of Lomond School Sports Hall with kids passing through their doors to make new friends and take part in past-times designed to promote an active, healthy lifestyle.

Sponsored by Captain of the Base, Captain Craig Mearns, with grants provided by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), the event attracted around 90 kids per week over the five weeks.

“I always look forward to Kings Camp taking place at Lomond School,” said Chief Petty Officer Murray Anderson, who helped organise the event.

“I love the energy from all the kids and it’s clear that they thoroughly enjoy themselves.  Full credit to all the Kings Camp staff.”

Kings Camp run summer camps and school holiday camps at 55 locations across the UK and have run an activity camp for the children of Naval Base workers for a number of years now.

The company is a leading provider of holiday sports and activity day camps for children and works closely with Naval Service communities.

Kings Camp’s Richard Holmes said: “It is a real privilege to serve all the naval and affiliate families from HM Naval Base Clyde.

The camps provide activities that are a critical part of child development and help prepare the kids for the future.”

I love the energy from all the kids and it’s clear that they thoroughly enjoy themselves.
