The annual Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton International Air Day in Somerset will take place on Saturday 7 July 2018.
Planning is well under way for the Royal Navy’s premier public event at the spiritual home of the Fleet Air Arm where up to 40,000 visitors are expected.
The Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm has a distinguished history spanning over 100 years.
This is destined to continue as the Royal Navy prepares for a new era in Carrier Strike capability with HMS Queen Elizabeth currently undertaking sea trials and the imminent arrival of the first operational F-35B Lightning II squadron to the UK.
RNAS Yeovilton International Air Day will demonstrate the Maritime Capability and Air Power not only from the Royal Navy but also our sister services – the British Army and the Royal Air Force in their centenary year.
Commander Terry Tyack (Wings), Commander Air and Flying Display Director says; “It also gives us the opportunity to underline the strong links the Royal Navy has with our NATO and European partners and highlight our allegiance.
“Our aim is to display, either flying or static, the world’s most capable pilots and their aircraft from aerobatic display teams, combat jets, multi-engine transports and surveillance platforms to sophisticated rotary assets along with their historic counterparts.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to see some outstanding equipment and meet our professional personnel in a family-friendly environment.”
Alongside the magnificent five hour flying display there will also be a huge array of ground attractions, from engineering fairs to the latest defence technology exhibitions, Service displays, trade stalls and arena displays.
For the thrill seekers there will be simulators, fairground rides and helicopter pleasure flights to enjoy.
Air Day tickets will be available to order from 12pm Wednesday 1st November 2017 at a discounted ‘Early bird’ rate with no booking fees for a limited period only.
