Fantastic fireworks show at HMS Raleigh

Fireworks night at HMS Raleigh went with a bang with around 2,500 families, friends and members of the public joining staff and recruits for the spectacular show.

The Band of Her Royal Marines Plymouth started the evening with a rousing performance leading into a ceremonial sunset ceremony, with a Guard made up of recruits undergoing the first stage of their Naval training.

A 20-minute display saw fireworks light up the sky over the training base in Torpoint.

The fireworks were provided d by two-times British champions Fantastic Fireworks and were accompanied by a mega-mix of hits to get toes tapping across the parade ground.

Warrant Officer 1 Paul Bell, HMS Raleigh’s Base Warrant Officer, said:  “It was an amazing night and we’d like to thank all those who attended.

“This was HMS Raleigh’s and the Royal Navy’s opportunity to show our appreciation to members of the local community for their much valued and continued support.”
