Naval Christmas traditions celebrated at Sultan

HMS Sultan kept with tradition recently as it held its Christmas Carol Service and Junior Rates Christmas Dinner.

Staff and trainees from across the Establishment enjoyed a Carol Service with a difference as the story of the nativity was told using popularly named chocolate bars as HMS Sultan’s own Volunteer Band did their best to ensure that the carols were sung in tune.

In addition, sporting prizes and colours were presented, with those who had completed a 100 mile or 500 mile challenge receiving special commemorative t-shirts.

Later on, trainees from the Defence College of Technical Training’s Royal Naval Air Engineering & Survival Equipment School (RNAESS) and the Defence School of Marine Engineering (DSMarE) were served Christmas Dinner by the Commanding Officer of HMS Sultan, Captain Peter Towell and the Establishment’s team of Senior Officers.

The guests were entertained by a professional magician throughout the meal with Junior Officers from the Systems Engineering and Management Course (SEMC) also serving drinks.
