HMS Collingwood’s Commanding Officer toasts Admiral Lord Collingwood at Tynemouth

On Friday 21 October Captain Andy Jordan the Commanding Officer of HMS Collingwood, gave the address at the annual ‘Toast to the Admiral ‘ at the Trafalgar Day event held at the Collingwood Monument in Tynemouth.

It was the seventh year that North Tyneside Council have hosted the event, which was also attended by invited dignitaries, descendants of Admiral Collingwood and members of the public.

Chair of North Tyneside Council, Councillor Dave McGarr, said: “The council was delighted to host the annual ‘Toast to the Admiral’ event, as our contribution to commemorate Trafalgar Day and raise awareness of the achievements of Vice-Admiral Lord Collingwood. He was a local hero; he was the nation’s hero.

"Our pride in our maritime history is also matched with our pride in our Royal Navy.”

Captain Jordan said “It was a great privilege to provide the oration to commemorate one of the nation’s greatest naval heroes, after whom the establishment I proudly command today is named.”
