HMS Collingwood hosts annual maritime trade operations conference

The Maritime Trade Operations (MTO) Specialisation of the Maritime Reserves held their 2016 conference at HMS Collingwood over the weekend 26-27 Nov 16.

Over 70 MTO personnel attended the conference from 12 RNR Units across the UK.  Presenters to the conference included Commander Maritime Reserves (CMR), Commodore Martin Quinn, RNR OC2, Captain Hill, Navy IW Division, the Maritime Battlestaff, Industry and of course MTO.

MTO personnel were able to engage with senior management; participate in discussions on a scenario; learn some top tips when attending exercises and consider their training for the 17/18 training year.

During the conference CMR congratulated HMS King Alfred’s Mr Gary Willis on his promotion to Warrant Officer and presented HMS Wildfire’s Chief Petty Officer Ian Bartram with his fourth clasp to his Volunteer Reserve Service Medal.

Mr Willis said “it’s a great honour and privilege to be promoted to a Warrant Officer in the Maritime Reserves and marks the pinnacle of my nearly 40 years of Naval service, I am particularly looking forward to my new role as the ratings career manager for the MTO branch and working for and with its keen and dedicated members.”
