Deploying to Afghanistan during 2012, Brig Magowan was instrumental in the enhancement of working relationships and ensuring the United Kingdom was identified as the coalition partner of choice.

Having returned to the UK, Brig Magowan, 46, now works at the Royal Navy’s headquarters in Portsmouth as Commodore Naval Personnel Strategy.

Aresident of Farnham, in Surrey, the father of two joined the Royal Marines in 1989 and was awarded the MBE for his service in 2005.

The Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) is awarded for a distinguished, innovative contribution in a certain area.
