The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Collingwood

The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Collingwood was formed on the 16th June 2009 as a direct result of the closure of the Band based at the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth.

Since its inception, the band has performed at many high profile engagements including the Royal Wedding, the Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall and South Coast Proms.

In addition to its musical commitments the Royal Marines Band Collingwood has deployed on RFA ARGUS to exercise its operational roles.

Over the past two years the band has been under the direction of Major Pete Curtis MBE.

During that time the band has enjoyed performing at various events including the opening ceremony for the Rugby World Cup at Twickenham, Invictus Games,  Tynwald Ceremonies in the Isle of Man.

The band has also performed alongside the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in London for Classic FM.

Now under the leadership of Major Jon Ridley, the band look forward to another year of high profile engagements.

Some of these include the Mountbatten Festival of Music, a trip to the Falkland Islands to take part in the Queen’s celebration parade, Horse Guards Parade in London, performing at the Silverstone Grand Prix and the Bournemouth Air Show in the Summer.

The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Collingwood continues to make a significant contribution to the Naval Service and wider UK interests.

It provides musical support to commemorative events and veteran’s parades in London and throughout the South Coast.

Its concerts raise funds for Service charities and it performs for events both on a national level and for local communities.
