Nordic Skiing

Nordic, or cross-country skiing, is a technical and demanding aerobic fitness regime for winter sports enthusiasts, perfect for recreation or competition.

Royal Navy Nordic Skiing

We give you the ability to get involved with Nordic Skiing, possibly up to Olympic level, though recreational and fitness-building levels are available too. Also known as, Cross Country Skiing, Langlauf, Ski de Fond (or Sci di Fondo), Track Skiing and simply XC, it's all about extreme fitness, stamina, and body and mind control. Also a very technical discipline, it's one of the most demanding aerobic activities.

The sport requires lightness of travel over undulating ground. Using very light shoes, non-metal edged skis and requiring the mastery of long poles, the sport also brings you in touch with beautiful winter landscapes.

There are two key disciplines with Nordic: Skating and Biathlon, which combines shooting at a target every three miles, pushing the body and mind control ever further.
