Bike Road Racing

Bike racing is a challenging sport, both physically and mentally. Anyone who has ever ridden at speed knows it requires concentration, skill and confidence, all of which are improved and enhanced by taking part in the sport.

Royal Navy Bike Road Racing

The challenge of bike racing puts both the rider and the bike to the test, physically challenging the rider and mechanically stressing the bike.

Sweaty palms and nerves on the start line are instantly replaced by heart pumping adrenaline as the lights go green, with the thrill of the chase and the mental challenge of finding that gap heightening your skills.

With RN and RM riders from all ranks, we race around the country and compete in Service and Inter-Service Champs.

You can get road racing whatever your experience or ability, and do not need masses of riding experience, with classes catering for all, even those without a license or on restricted road licences.

Get involved

Before you come riding we recommend having a taster session as part of the pit crew, where you pick up skills and knowledge that will be invaluable anyway.

Once you know you want to jump on board, you'll need to get your ACU Race Licence and join Thundersport GB Club. Getting your race licence can be done with a number of organisations and consists of a two part test: Competitor Training Course (CTC) and Basic Rider Assessment (BRA). Your licence will be classified as a Novice or Intermediate Novice (if you hold a Full Class A - DVLA Road Licence) and define which bikes you can ride.

These are just the basics, to learn more and to get involved, just get in touch.
