Boxer selected to represent Great Britain at European Boxing Champs

Royal Marine George Crotty has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Boxing Championships 2022 between 22-30 May 2022

The 27 year old light-heavyweight from Royston will box alongside 13 other boxers to compete at the 2022 Men’s European Boxing Championships in Yerevan, Armenia.

“I’ve got better preparation now and I know what to expect”, Marine George Crotty believes his experiences at last year’s world championships will stand him in good stead this time round.

The Royal Navy Elite Athlete boxer is part of the GB Boxing Podium Squad, which are made-up of men and women from England, Scotland and Wales. George was also recently awarded the Royal Navy Sportsman of the Year award at the Royal Navy Sports Awards 2021.

Mne Crotty will kickstart the championships fighting on 23 May 2022 in Ring B from 15:00 GMT.

GB Boxing was established in October 2008 to manage the World Class Performance Programme (WCPP) for boxing and prepare and train the boxers that compete for Great Britain at the Olympic Games.
