Royal Navy Officer returns victorious from Fullbore shooting competition in the Channels Islands

Sub-Lieutenant Theo Dodds has returned victorious from a Fullbore shooting competition in the Guernsey, following triumph at the Jersey Open earlier that month.

Shooting at distances from 300-1,000 yards with iron sights atop his .308” target rifle, Theo successfully battled the high winds of Guernsey to come away victorious losing just one point over 405 and just a hair’s breadth away from beating the historic range record of 405.61Vs, having scored 404.63Vs.

This win followed another triumph at the Jersey Open where the young officer, amongst numerous Commonwealth Games medallists, competed over three days before taking home 6th in the Grand Aggregate in addition to multiple awards including the Percy Whitaker Trophy and Miss Edna Parker Cup (both pictured).

SLt Theo Dodds commented: "I was now warmed up for the next Open in Guernsey where I knew I’d be performing at my best. This plan came to fruition and I won the Grand Aggregate with a score just 0.25% shy of the historic record."

Theo's sport is 'fullbore target rifle' a discipline of target shooting, which uses a .308”/7.62mm bolt action rifle to shoot at distances from 300-1,000 yards with iron sights and a sling.

Theo added: "I would like to thank Royal Navy Sport for the opportunity to compete at these competitions and to all the personnel at HMS Temeraire for all the support that is provided."
