Venture into Canoeing and Kayaking

The Naval Outdoor Centre Germany (NOCG) in the Allgäu area of Bavaria, Germany aims to present Naval Service personnel with adventurous activities, challenges and risks in a controlled environment. An extensive range of programs are available here, including for canoeing and kayaking.

This can range from learning the basics on flat water, to becoming more proficient and tackling river journeys and rapids. There are many types of craft, such as open canoes for long river journeys, sea kayaks for tidal regions and channels, and river kayaks for moving on rapids.

NOCG foundation courses in canoeing and kayaking

The lakes and rivers in and around The Naval Outdoor Centre Germany offer an ideal venue to experience the thrills and spills of canoeing and kayaking. From being introduced to the basics on a lake in the morning, to using the skills learned on moving water in the afternoon; standby to get wet!

The NOCG Foundation Courses that are currently offered for canoeing and kayaking are as follows:

K2F (Kayak Foundation)

This is a five day course which provides kayaking students with an in depth understanding and knowledge base of this dynamic discipline. With the lessons learned and skills achieved on the K2F course, a firm bedrock is provided which can be used to progress to instructor level.

Over the duration of the course, students will spend:

  • Two and half days on flat water
  • Two and a half days on white water

O2F (Open Boat Foundation)

A five day course which is tailored for open boat students in canoeing, the O2F course provides a deep understanding of the challenges faced and the abilities required. The knowledge and skills learned give a firm foundation to advance to instructor level.

Over the duration of the course, students will spend:

  • Two and half days on flat water
  • Two and a half days on white water
