UNDERWATER SEDIMENT SAMPLING IN PORTSMOUTH HARBOUR AND THE SOLENT 1- 2 JULY 2024

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King's Harbour Master Portsmouth that on the 1 and 2 July 2024 underwater sediment sampling will take place in Portsmouth Harbour and The Solent. Precise timings and locations will depend on weather conditions at the time. 

2. Sampling will take place at multiple locations as shown in Figures 1 and 2 below.

3. The work will be carried out by the vessel “SD INSPECTOR” a small Multicat operated by SERCO. Operations will be weather dependant and only conducted during the hours of daylight. Appropriate COLREGS signals will be displayed while the vessel is conducting survey operations. Each sampling period is expected to be no more than 15 minutes in duration. 

4. All mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass at slow speed while sampling operations are being conducted. KHM Harbour Control will be kept informed and de-conflict with other marine traffic if the situation demands and can be contacted on 02392 723694 and VHF Ch11, if required.
