MAINTENANCE DREDGING AT HMNB PORTSMOUTH 6 MARCH – 3 APRIL 2025

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King's Harbour Master Portsmouth that surveying operations and maintenance dredging will be conducted in the maintained areas within Portsmouth Harbour and its approach channels from 6 March – 3 April 2025.  

2. The contractor for the works will be Boskalis Westminster Ltd, using the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHD) “SOSPAN DAU’’ (LOA 72.8m), and “SHOALWAY” (LOA 97.7m) and assisted by the plough dredgers “OBERVARGH” (LOA 15.3m) and “WILLCHALLENGE” (LOA 22.0m) with the support vessel "SMIT NEYLAND" (LOA 12.0m) carrying out survey operations. All vessels will be displaying the appropriate IRPCS lights and shapes. 

3. Mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass at slow speed while dredging operations are being conducted. All dredging and surveying craft will maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch 11 throughout operations. 

4. KHM Harbour Control will be kept informed of work in progress and will de-conflict movements with other marine traffic. They can be contacted on VHF Ch 11 or by telephoning 02392 723689 for the latest information.
