AUTONOMOUS SURFACE VESSEL TRIALS 17 FEBRUARY-3 MARCH 2025

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King’s Harbour Master Portsmouth that Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV) trials will be conducted within the Dockyard Port of Portsmouth over the period 17 February - 3 March 2025.

 

2.  The ASV will be trialled in Ryde Middle and the water East of Portsmouth Harbour’s main channel and submarine barrier.

 

3.  The designated trials period will be 0900 – 1600 daily, daylight hours only, and include the ASV operating in remote/autonomous mode within the trials area. Only one ASV will be trailed at any given time.

 

4. The ASV ‘P38 AGGRESSOR’ is a black monohulled (LOA 13.6m) vessel and may operate up to 25 knots. A safety vessel ‘VALKYRIE 6’ or ‘VALKYRIE 8’ and ‘SB850i’, or other suitable charter vessel, will act as the safety and support vessels during the period of the trials. The safety and support vessels will attend all times of the trials period. Where possible, trials vessels will maintain a minimum 200-metre separation from other craft, and trial runs will be modified or aborted if a close-quarters situation is developing.

 

5. The safety vessel will be listening on VHF Ch 11, 12, 16 and 72.

 

6.  All trials vessels will conform to the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs) and The Dockyard Port of Portsmouth Regulations.

 

7. Cancel this LNTM 4 March 2025.
