UNCREWED SURFACE VESSEL LAUNCH AND RECOVERY TRIALS 19 – 30 AUGUST 2024

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King’s Harbour Master Portsmouth that BAE Systems Ltd will be carrying out uncrewed surface vessel (USV) launch and recovery trials in the following locations; Stokes Bay, Osborne Bay or Hayling Bay (weather dependent) areas between 19 - 30 August 2024. 

2. Launch and recovery trials will be conducted in daylight only with a safety vessel in attendance throughout. The USV, ‘PD007’, is a 7.5m Pacific 24 RHIB, is coloured grey and has a top speed of 38kts. ‘PD007’ will be accompanied by ‘Valkyrie 8’, acting as a safety boat. ‘PD007’ will have a coxswain and navigator on board. Trials serials will involve a launch and recovery cradle being towed along by ‘Willsupply’.

3. Trials will take place from approximately 0800 to 1800 in Stokes Bay, Osborne Bay or Hayling Bay. ‘PD007’ will only conduct launch and recovery serials when in one of the specified trials areas.

4. All vessels involved in the sea trial will be listening on VHF Ch 11, 12, 77 and 16. 

5. All trials vessels will conform to the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS) and Portsmouth Harbour Regulations, including speed limits at all times.
