1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that a Cross Solent Swim will take place on Saturday 27 August 2022, between Gilkicker and Ryde Sands. In the event of adverse weather, the swim will be postponed until Sunday 28 August.
2. There will be two groups of 10 swimmers, participating in the crossing. Each swimmer will be accompanied by a kayaker acting as an individual support craft. The first group lead support vessel is ‘SWIM CONTROL / LIVING THE DREAM’ / MMSI 235082878 (LOA 13m powerboat). There will be one other support vessel for this group, ‘XENOTE (LOA 5.2m sports boat). The second group lead support vessel is ‘SWIM CONTROL / PLANE LAZY’ / MMSI 235056426 (LOA 7m white sports cruiser), the other support vessel for the second group is ‘NO WORRIES’ (LOA 5.2m cabin cruiser). A listening watch will be maintained on VHF Ch11 and Ch12 throughout.
3. The swim route is from Gilkicker to Ryde Sands, with the first group starting at 1000 on Saturday (1100 on Sunday). The second group will start at 1100 on Saturday (1200 on Sunday) and all swimmers should complete the crossing by approximately 1400 (1500 on Sunday).
4. All support craft will display the International Code Flag ‘ALPHA’ while escorting the swimmers.
5. Mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass well clear of the swimmers and the support craft during their crossing of the Solent.
