LNTM No 24/22

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV) training will be conducted in the eastern Solent between 7 and 11 February 2022.

2. ASV operations will be conducted in daylight only with a safety vessel in attendance throughout. A small unmanned ASV “CW4” will be used for the training. CW4 is a 4.2 metre craft and is coloured yellow. CW4 will be accompanied by the VALKYRIE 6, which will tow the craft from Trafalgar Wharf to the operating area and will act as the safety vessel for the training and will intervene in the event of any safety issues. For the training serials, CW4 will be remotely controlled, with the operator following the International Rules for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS) at all times. In addition, every effort will be made to maintain a separation of at least 200 metres from any non-participating craft, and training runs will be aborted if a close-quarters situation is developing.
