PLYMOUTH LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS 040/25
PLYMOUTH SOUND – DIRECTION
PLYMOUTH TRIATHLON – SUNDAY 15 JUNE 2025

 

1. This is a direction by the King’s Harbour Master Plymouth pursuant to the Dockyard Port of Plymouth Order 2020.

    

2. The Plymouth Triathlon Open Water Swim will be held in Barn Pool (general position 50° 21.36’ N 004° 10.31’W.) on Sun 15 Jun 25. Up to 300 swimmers and escorting safety craft will be on the water.

    

3. The Water Events Diary 2025 gave early notice of this event. This PLNTM gives information of timings, the course and directs mariners accordingly.

    

4. Course. Swimmers will enter the water from Barn Pool Beach, they will then swim counter clockwise around temporary yellow buoys, exiting at the same place. The Chartlet in Annex A indicates the area in which the swim will take place. Swimmers will be escorted by safety craft throughout. Safety craft will consist of kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and powerboats.

    

5. Only authorised craft are permitted within the group of swimmers.

    

6. The Safety Management is being coordinated by Plymouth Triathlon Club (PTC), personnel will be in attendance in safety craft throughout the event and can be contacted via VHF Ch.14.

    

7. Mariners are to keep clear of the swimmers and are at all times to navigate with caution and at slow speed when in the vicinity of persons in the water.
