PLYMOUTH LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS 040/23

PLYMOUTH SOUND - DIRECTION

PLYMOUTH TRIATHLON – SUNDAY 09 JULY 2023

1. This is a direction by the King’s Harbour Master Plymouth pursuant to the Dockyard Port of Plymouth Order 2020.

2. The Plymouth Triathlon Open Water Swim will be held in Barn Pool on Sun 09 Jul 23, directly south east of Mount Edgcumbe at 0600. Up to 300 swimmers and escorting safety craft will be on the water.

3. The Water Events Diary 2023 gave early notice of the Plymouth Triathlon. This PLNTM gives information of timings, the course and directs mariners accordingly.

4. Course - Swimmers will enter the water from Barn Pool Beach, they will then swim counter clockwise around temporary yellow buoys, exiting at the same place see annex A. Swimmers will be escorted by safety craft throughout. Safety craft will consist of kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and powerboats.

5. Only authorised craft are permitted within the group of swimmers.

6. The Safety Management is being coordinated by Plymouth Triathlon Club PTC, personnel will be in attendance in safety craft throughout the event.

7. Mariners are to keep clear of the swimmers and are at all times to navigate with caution and at slow speed when in the vicinity of persons in the water.
