PLYMOUTH LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS 037/23

START OF THE JESTER BALTIMORE CHALLENGE 18 JUNE 2023

INFORMATION

  1. This Notice is published for information by the King’s Harbour Master Plymouth pursuant to the Dockyard Port of Plymouth Order 2020.

     

  2. The Jester Challenge is an annual event for solo sailors in 26’ – 30’ yachts, organised by the Jester Helm. The 2023 event takes place from Plymouth to Baltimore Ireland, one way.

     

  3. The start line is between the west end of the Plymouth breakwater and a point approx. 1 nautical mile to its west. Approximately 50 participants will congregate at the base of Mayflower Marina before setting off to the start line and commencing at 1200 on Sunday 18 June 2023.

     

  4. All vessels are to manoeuvre in accordance with the International Rules for Preventing Collisions at Sea. Non-participants are requested to give competitors and the pre-start area as wide a berth as is safe and practicable.

     

  5. All vessels are to remain at least 50 metres clear of anchored or moored warships and auxiliaries at all times.
