The Childrens Society, Young Carers, Champions For Change
The Children's Society are launching a new project called Young Carers: Champions for Change where they will be engaging young carers from the Tri-Forces in Hampshire and Wiltshire to be involved in a voluntary programme and become ‘Champions’ of all young cares in Armed Force Families.
To launch this new project we are organising two activity days. The dates of the activity days are Wednesday 28th July
and Wednesday 11th August
. The days will be a mixture of outdoor activities
and workshops around mental health and well-being, stress and resilience, producing and creating media around telling your story.
July will be taking place from 1000 – 1700 at Wilshire Outdoor Learning Centre, Wiltshire
August will be taking place from 0930 – 1600 at Woodmill Activity Centre in Southampton.
Following these two activity days, there will be further workshops in the Autumn term that the young carers will be invited to. All travel, activities and workshops will be paid for by The Childrens' Society,
you will just need to bring a packed lunch. A project worker must attend
with their young people up to the age of 18. If you are a young adult carer over 18, you can attend alone, providing you are confident to travel alone, and a risk assessment has completed by the project worker. Suggested minimum age of attendance is age 11.
There are a limited number of spaces for these activity days and places will be offered on a first come- first served basis. You are very welcome to attend both the Hampshire and Wiltshire days.
