Service Family Accommodation (SFA) Communications Update
Update from Head of Accommodation DIO on AFCAS 2020
“The Armed Forces Continuous Attitude Service 2020 results have been published today. I am pleased to see the increase in customer satisfaction for repairs, maintenance and allocations continue over the last year. This positive upward trend is also reflected in our routine SFA customer survey results. These are testament to our commitment to addressing Service families’ concerns in recent years, and to the ongoing prioritised investment in SFA. Last year we invested £123M on improving more than 9,000 properties including new kitchens, bathrooms, boilers, external wall insulation, new roofs and replacement doors and windows. Additionally, we improved the lived environment by delivering 29 upgraded playparks, together with improved roads, parking areas and street lighting.
We are continuing the same approach this year to build on progress to date; the 917 new build properties on the Salisbury Plain Training Area to support the Army Basing Programme will also be completed this year. I hope that these investments underline the importance that the MOD places on providing good quality homes for our Service personnel and their families.”
Regeneration of moves in and out of SFA
The recent announcements from the single Services about the regeneration of moves from 1 July onwards has led to a significant increase in the number of calls by Service personnel to the Amey Helpdesk. This is understandable as Service families are keen to arrange Move In/Out appointments. However, the number of calls is impacting on the ability of Helpdesk staff to focus on the initial moves. We therefore seek your support in encouraging those Service personnel whose assignment is not until August or September to wait until they are contacted by the Helpdesk about their move. This approach will ensure a smooth and efficient service for all concerned.
Update for moves across Europe
DIO European Support Group manage 1550 Service Family and Single Accommodation properties for personnel assigned to locations across Europe. As movement restrictions ease, our European team have completed risk assessments and are providing PPE to help our locally employed civilians return to work and recommence routine maintenance, gardening and domestic assistance duties.
Working for home arrangements will remain in place for office based staff and reporting of repairs will continue to be via e-mail. There is a backlog of routine maintenance so any new issues may take longer than normal to be resolved. Your understanding would be appreciated.
