Message from Second Sea Lord and Fleet Commander
To our Naval Family,
Following earlier communications to our personnel this week we wanted to take the opportunity to write to our wider naval family prior to the weekend.
We understand that the current situation in the UK, and internationally around the globe, is rightly causing much concern for all and we know that you are not exempt from this. With the Prime Minister providing national briefing on a daily basis you will understand the need for COVID 19 response to move into a delay phase. We have been clear that this phase will impact the Naval Service; both personally and professionally. Your loved one has been asked to consider in detail, and mitigate where possible, the impact that this may have on you and your family.
We have a duty on behalf of the nation to keep the Royal Navy operational and delivering for our country at home and overseas. Our plans are in place to keep our operational outputs and realise that they will need to be adapted as the situation within the country and around the world changes. Please understand that there will be some changes with regards family involvement at passing out parades, community events and homecomings – our teams are making these decisions in accordance with wider governmental advice.
We will endeavour to keep you updated and your loved ones unit will also be keeping you informed of developments. These updates will be placed within our secure and dedicated Forum area (www.royalnavy.mod.uk/forums) - if you have not already registered then we would strongly encourage you to do so as soon as possible; once within the Forum click on your Unit’s area and set up notifications - you will then be automatically alerted of any updates.
Most of our Units also have an official Community Facebook Group (private) which are a great way of keeping in touch and receiving moral support from other families. Visit www.facebook.com/NSFamilyPeopleSupport
where you will find a list of all the official groups.
NS FPS are also on hand in both these areas - our dedicated Moderators are there to support, ensure your safety and signpost to additional support when necessary.
NS FPS can offer advice & guidance and can be contacted via the online channels -'contact us' forms on the Royal Navy Website, the Forum or Facebook as well as via email email@example.com .
If you or your family are in crisis and require professional personal support, then we would encourage you to contact the NS FPS Portal on 0800 145 6088 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org .
We all have our own families and realise the impact that this will undoubtably be having at home. Be assured that the safety and wellbeing of your loved one is key and foremost amongst our planning. We want to thank you for the support and fortitude that you are offering your service person and ask that you continue to support them, the Royal Navy and the country as we continue to protect our nations interests. Second Sea Lord and Fleet Commander
