Roman Invasion at Fort Nelson, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September

On the 21 and 22 September the Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson will present an action-packed themed weekend featuring fearsome Roman warriors.

This weekend is part of the museum’s Invasion! series of events, exploring mighty warrior legends and battles from cultures around the world through combat demonstrations, storytelling, objects from the Royal Armouries collection, presentations and have-a-go activities for all the family.

Visitors will have the rare opportunity to travel back in time 2000 years and discover what it was like to be a Roman soldier, meet mighty warrior legends in the Living History encampment, learn about the weapons and watch fierce battles and authentic gladiator demonstrations that made the warriors so feared.
Juniors can immerse themselves in history and take part in a re-enactment of a legendary barbaric battle and even try their hand at ancient archery.

Rescued from dereliction, Fort Nelson now houses and displays the Royal Armouries’ remarkable collection of artillery. Whatever the weather, it is an exciting day out for all the family with over 350 big guns to discover and tunnels and ramparts to explore.
Fort’s Café 1871 and Kiosk will be open throughout summer, 10 am – 5 pm, offering a selection of tasty treats and refreshments. Admission is free, parking £3. For further information, click here
