Delpoyment

Hi. I’m not sure if this is the right place to post but my partner has just gone on his first 3 month deployment and I’ve been reading through the familygram pack and its gives the option to email them but then it says that the only way to communication with the SSBN is to write a letter, if I email the address I have been given, how will I know it has reached him?
Thanks

I use the following format you obvs need the one your family member is serving on.

    HMS **** HMSVANG-FAMILYGRAMS@mod.uk
    HMS **** HMSVENG-FAMILYGRAMS@mod.uk
    HMS **** HMSVICT-FAMILYGRAMS@mod.uk

In the subject line you write as below
30264333-ABJURES R-10/05/18 This is NOT his name or number!
Service number - ABSURNAME then initial - date of writing

You will receive a confirmation email the next day stating that the mail has been forwarded to the boat .
    Hope this helps. HJ

Hi My son is about to go on his first deployment on the QE. He has asked me to find out about being able to get foreign currency for the countries he will be visiting, how he can sort his car MOT whilst he is away and I need to get some info about the linked letter scheme so I can keep in touch with him. I did wonder if the QE will have a foreign exchange bureau o board with it being so big. Any information / help will gratefully be received. Many thanks

    Hi Sally,

Thank you very much for your message.

HMS Queen Elizabeth will have money changing facilities onboard the ship for foreign currencies. I am sure there will also be ATM machines available in those countries the ship will visit. One thing I would recommend is that your son contacts his bank to let them know that he will be overseas.

As for the MOT if there is not long to go before the next test, it may be worth your son getting it done before he goes away.

I'm not sure what link letter scheme HMS QNLZ has setup Sally, but your son should be able to find that out from his Divisional Officer onboard the ship.

Ways for you to keep in touch is via the HMS Queen Elizabeth Forum . To access the Forum you will need to register an account with the RN Website. You will need your son's service number to be able to register.

HMS Queen Elizabeth is on Social Media. You can request to join the official HMS Queen Elizabeth Community Facebook group and if Twitter is your thing you can follow @HMSQnlz.

    Hope this helps.
