Joining the Royal Marines

Hi I'm 16 just out of school and in the process of joining the Royal Marines (currently at the medical stage). I am having some worries about joining the marines at my age. Don't get me wrong I would love to join and have done for a few years now. But I am worried I am not at the right fitness standard yet and am maybe to young and therefore not developed enough. I am 6ft and 63kg slightly under joining weight. I have started training at the gym about 5 days a week but have not been for that long as I turned 16 in November last year and could only join the gym then. I am thinking of quiting although that's not the way I would like to put it, more postponing. As I think I should leave it for a year or two to grow more and bulk up more. I have talked to relatives and they all think I should keep going but I'm worried if I do fail it will be very difficult to get an apprenticeship after everyone else has already got one. I would really like an opinion of a professional or should I go to my nearest barracks for this issue?

Commonwealth passport holders, who do not also hold a British or Irish passport, must live in UK for five years before eligible to join the Royal Navy under current legislation.

Once an application is underway, all communications for overseas applicanyts should be via the overseas desk at London AFCO. If they have emailed you, email them back as advised, remembering there are in excess of 400 overseas applicants who are in the selection process so a reply may take a little while.
