Terms & Conditions

  1. This prize draw is only open to Eligible Participants. An Eligible Participant is a person aged 18 years or over who meets the Security, Health and Safety considerations of the promoter. The Royal Navy reserves the right to verify the eligibility of Eligible Participants. By taking part in this promotion, Eligible Participants confirm that they accept these terms and conditions.
  2. Personal data will be taken where necessary from all Operation Alchemy challenge participants but shall be limited to those details reasonably necessary for the administration of the event. This information may be shared with any other third parties reasonably involved in the event without liability to the Royal Navy or such third parties.
  3. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into. The Royal Navy reserves the right to cancel or amend without notice the terms of this event and any tickets issued in the event of major operation, catastrophe, war, earthquake or any actual or anticipated or alleged breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other circumstance beyond the promoter’s control in its sole discretion. The Royal Navy reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the operation of the event or to be acting in violation of these Terms and Conditions or any promotion related to the event or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the event and any related promotions may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Royal Navy reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Royal Navy’s failure to enforce any term of these Terms and Conditions shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
  4. The Royal Navy has the right to request the removal of any persons from the event who, in its sole opinion, may be disruptive or offensive to other guests.
  5. This prize draw is governed by English law and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.

  7. The Alchemy in Action prize is a 3 day experience with the Royal Navy to take place in summer 2015 in the south west of the UK. Dates for the trip will not be confirmed until approximately 6 weeks before the event and may change subject to national and operational commitments. Winners will be contacted after the last on campus event to make arrangements.
  8. The prize is non-transferable and has no monetary value and cannot be exchanged.
  9. In order to win the prize, participants must attend the Thursday Night Social event.
  10. Tickets to the Thursday Night Social event are non-transferable and have no monetary value.
  11. Participants in the challenge are entitled to one free drink, redeemable at the bar at the Thursday Night Social and collectable on entrance.
  12. Capacity at the Thursday Night Social event is limited and the door policy will be first come first served and, if capacity is reached, one in, one out.
  13. winner of the prize draw must be able to undertake the experience which is subject to the following Health & Safety and Security considerations.
  14. Health and Safety. Standard considerations are:
    a.   Visitors will be restricted from participating in any activity that could be considered potentially dangerous, hazardous or requiring specific training.
    b.   Visitors (onboard ships and submarines) and those taking part in Experience Days should be relatively agile and able to ascend/descent vertical ladders unaided, follow emergency procedures, and able to use any safety equipment independently (including the proper wearing of RN Life Jackets).
    c.   Any known/ pre-existing medical conditions that could affect the visit must be declared in advance
    d.   The minimum age to take part in the prize activity the prize is 18 years of age.
    e.   Those participating in the RM training experience are also to comply with the additional stipulations below:
      i).   Each person must be deemed medically fit enough to undergo strenuous exercise.
      ii).   Visitors must provide their own, toiletries, towel, plastic bag for wet muddy clothing and a change of clothes.
  15. Security Considerations. In accordance with security advice, prize winners should be UK passport holders, or Commonwealth nationals. Non UK passport holders will be required to verify their nationality when claiming the prize. The Royal Navy reserves the right to withdraw the offer or reject a prize winner on the grounds of security.
  16. Filming and photography of event activity will take place on and nearby the various Royal Navy Operation Alchemy activities taking place at each University campus visited by the Royal Navy in Spring 2015. By your presence and participation, you consent to be taped and otherwise recorded and agree that The Royal Navy may use, your voice, name, and filmed and/or recorded likeness, without limitation or restriction, and without payment to you of any kind, for all purposes, throughout the universe, in perpetuity, in any and all languages, formats, manner, media, devices, processes and technologies, now known and later devised.
