HMS Pursuer (P273)

HMS PURSUER is an Archer-class patrol vessel of the Coastal Forces Squadron. She is a fast, versatile and highly manoeuvrable unit based in HMNB DEVONPORT.

Role

HMS PURSUER has a varied and commendable history. Although she is one of the Navy’s smallest ships at 20.8 meters in length, she has travelled further than you might imagine. In previous years she formed part of the Cyprus Squadron and was later responsible for the protection of Gibraltar’s territorial waters. At present, PURSUER operates in-and-around UK waters and the Baltic Sea providing a trials platform for cutting-edge technology, training opportunities for Royal Navy personnel (including University Royal Naval Units), and support to multi-national exercises and operations.

Capability

HMS PURSUER is a fast inshore patrol craft with a range of 550 nautical miles. With the ability to accommodate far more people than her permanent crew, PURSUER is perfectly placed to provide training opportunities for Royal Navy personnel, particularly in navigation; embark specialists to conduct trials of the latest technology or operate advanced equipment; and to support a range of exercises and operations both within and outside of UK waters.

Archer class

Crew

Led by Lieutenant J E Hawke Royal Navy, HMS PURSUER has a permanent crew of five: four Ratings and an Officer. Together, they ensure the Ship is in a fit state to proceed to sea and meet the Coastal Forces Squadron’s objectives.
