Unit History

The London Division1903

The London Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve was established in 1903. Its first training night was held at Fishmongers' Hall, later taking place on board HMS Buzzard on the Thames.

Replaced1911

This ship was replaced in 1911 by a Flower class corvette named HMS President.

HMS Chrysanthemum1930

In the 1930’s, HMS President was joined by HMS Chrysanthemum and they became a familiar sight along London's Embankment.

Current Location1988

In 1988, both HMS President and HMS Chrysanthemum were sold and the unit moved ashore to its current location which was formerly the P & O London ferry terminal.

Commanding Officer John Herriman

Rank: Commander

Commander John Herriman joined the Royal Navy as a Warfare Officer in 1986. He assumed command of HMS President on 1 April 2014.
