MCM 1 Crew 7 bade a fond farewell to the familiar surroundings of Faslane and HMS Shoreham this month as they deployed to the Middle East.

On Wednesday 15th July whilst conducting Maritime Security Operations in the Central Gulf HMS Pembroke responded to a Mayday call from the MV Salem 1 approximately 20 miles North East of Qatar. 

HMS Pembroke is still operating from Bahrain in support of Operation TELIC, but for a while has been alongside conducting maintenance on her engines.

With HMS Pembroke and HMS Atherstone alongside, the two ships fielded a relatively inexperienced team to play Bahrain RFC 2nd XV.

HMS Pembroke, and her companion HMS Grimsby, are finally on the doorstep of their operational theatre.

HMS Pembroke made a short stop into Augusta during mid-November in order to fuel at the NATO facility there. The trip was conducted in beautiful weather, which put the ship’s (Pembroke & Grimsby) slightly ahead of schedule.
