Welcome to Duncan’s homepage. The Royal Navy’s sixth Type 45 Destroyer and the seventh vessel to bear the name.  Duncan is named after Adam Duncan who was the 1st Viscount Duncan of Camperdown (1st July 1731 – 4th August 1804). Admiral Duncan defeated the Dutch fleet off Camperdown on 11th October 1797 and the victory was considered to be one of the most significant actions ever in naval history.

Duncan was constructed by BVT Surface Fleet in Govan shipyard at Scotstoun on the River Clyde. She joins the other Type 45 destroyers as one of the most powerful destroyers ever operated by the Royal Navy.

Our motto is “Secundis dubusque rectus” (Upright in prosperity and peril).
