The Black Cats 2010
Welcome to the website of the Royal Navy’s Helicopter Display Team “The Black Cats”. The 2010 season is fast approaching and we will be updating this site on a regular basis so keep checking back. Our diary for the season is as good as confirmed so please check out the dates in the calendar section.
The Royal Navy Helicopter Display Team have been a popular fixture on the Airshow circuit since 2003 under the title of The Lynx Pair, winning the Steadman Sword for the best British participant at the Royal International Air Tattoo in 2003. In 2004, increased support from the Royal Navy and AgustaWestland Helicopters saw the team reinvented as “The Black Cats” for the forthcoming season. The team is the first official RN helicopter display team since The Sharks, who disbanded in the mid 1990’s.
This year the team has undergone a transformation with the arrival of two new pilots: Lt Becky Frater (Black Lead) and Lt Chris Chambers (Black 2) have taken the helm. It is an exciting time for the Black Cats; preparations for a brand new display are well underway, the design of a 2010 souvenir brochure is in progress and we are revamping last year’s logo.
